Who We Help
TaxAid provides free, professional tax advice to people who are struggling with tax problems and need help or people who have tax queries and need help, but cannot afford professional advice or cannot otherwise access help. Our service is specifically for individuals who are unable to resolve their tax issues directly with HMRC and who meet our eligibility criteria.
Our eligibility criteria and scope of services
Our support is available to those who are otherwise unable to find support and who are unable to afford to pay for help because they have a low income, which means typically an income of approximately £20,000 annually (before tax), or people on higher income with debt more than 25% of their annual income; or people who have other hardships or disadvantages such as (but not limited to) mental or physical health problems, disabilities, domestic violence, bereavement, or homelessness that prevent them from otherwise accessing help.
Please do not pass the above number on to clients it is just for referrals.
Our helpline is open Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
