Affected by flooding?
HMRC may not be top of your list of concerns, but if recent flooding means you might miss the tax return filing deadline, phone the HMRC floodline for advice before the deadline.
The flood helpline can help:
- If you have lost business records due to flooding and are unsure what to do
- Need time to pay a tax bill
- Face debt recovery action
- Have received penalties for missing deadlines
The helpline number is 0800 904 7900. It is open Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 8.00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
You should note down the time of the call, who you spoke to and what has been agreed. If you leave contacting HMRC until after you have missed the deadline, you may find that it more difficult to avoid penalties.
