You need help with making or renewing your tax credit claim

Tax Credits Problems?

You will probably need to contact a local advice agency such as Citizen’s Advice (http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/cabdir.ihtml), if you have been unable to resolve the position directly with HMRC. TaxAid does not have the resources to undertake casework on tax credits but may be able to provide specialist support if you have not managed to resolve your problem with a local agency.

Before you do this, you might find it helpful to review the guidance on the HMRC website:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/start/claiming/index.htm Making a claim

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/keep-up-to-date/renew-claim/index.htm Renewing your claim

You may also ask for help from HMRC at a local enquiry centre (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/enq/index.htm). They may ask you to phone the Tax Credit Office from the Enquiry Centre, but if you are unable to get through, or you query cannot be resolved you can ask for a face to face appointment.
